Life with Jack

So Jack is almost a week old now; it's crazy how fast it went! I feel like yesterday I was still bemoaning my overdue-ness and thinking I would be pregnant forever, and then labor is just a blur now... it seemed to go on forever and ever but looking back now it was merely a blink and then Jack came and I forgot about everything else in the world! We chose an unmedicated birth, just doing it the natural way.. we had a Doula and my sister in the room with us, and our fabulous friend/Doctor, AJ, came in specially for us and I made it through. Everything went smoothly, although Jack was posterior which meant alot of back labor and slow progression (aka PAINFUL), but despite that there were no problems. Jack was healthy as a horse (still is) and I did survive even though I thought I would be in labor forever, after having been pregnant forever it seemed that was what fate had in store for me. But all the work was totally worth it, Jack came out so bright eyed and alert and I wasn't groggy from drugs and we just fell in love with him.

So now, a week later, we have decided life with Jack is fabulous and I just don't know what I did without him before. He's so adorable and makes the cutest faces in his sleep, and he sleeps at night! He's so calm and laid back and loves to snuggle and we pretty much just can't keep our hands off him. His favorite things to do when he's awake are stare at us and stretch out his legs (they are soo long!), pee and poop while we're in the middle of changing his diaper and make funny little sounds that sound like a kitten. He loves to sleep with his daddy, and they look so cute together asleep on the couch, both of them with their mouths open....

Anyway, that's our week and Jack is amazing. We're keeping him.

This is Paris. I saw your blog off your myspace. CONGRATULATIONS!!! That's so awesome that you were able to have a natural drug free delivery. We chose to have both our babies that way too. He's beautiful and really long, at least from the picks. Enjoy every minute of it.
