"i want that orange you're eating"

I have a few things to say. First of all, I pulled off a most successful dinner party last night, kudos to me. I made pork tenderloin, and since I had to work the whole afternoon I sent Garrett to the store with a grocery list. Folks, there IS a difference between tenderloin and loin. It's about a two foot difference. I got home from work and there was a slab..no, a felled-tree-of-a-log of MEAT sitting on my counter. It looked like a giant YOUKNOWWHAT. Apparently WinCo doesn't accept returns on those so we now have a huge log of meat in our freezer. ANYWAY, I digress.

I made pork tenderloin and slathered it with a delicious hazelnut, parmesan and mustard dressing and it was a-mazing. Yay for me!

But you don't care about all that, you want to know about Jack.
Who wouldn't?
I think he's getting ready to enter the world of FOOD. Yesterday I was eating a little orange slice and he was sitting on my hip and he had been watching me intently eating this orange, and suddenly he just grabs my hand and pulls it to his mouth and promptly chomped down on the orange. And just sucked. He loved it. And later that evening he was being fussy and i pulled out an orange slice and he immediately ceased fussing and lowered his face onto the orange and you could hear him sucking the very marrow from it's... skin. He's very interested in anything you put in your mouth. Anything I drink he follows with his eyes all the way to mouth and back. And then he tries to grab the cup and take a drink himself. Anyway, point is, loves oranges, wants food. Which I think is why he nurses constantly and wakes up so much more often to eat in the night: he needs more nourishment! So this should be an interesting new adventure.

What else is new? Jack has a new carseat, it's a "big boy" one because it's all three carseats in one! The downside to this is it is not removable, so when Jack is sleeping in his carseat, or we want to go into a restaurant, we don't have a handy-dandy click in-and-out option. So things are a little tricky right now. But he was way too big for his old carseat, besides that fact that it was nearly impossible to carry, his feet hung off the edge about 4 inches. So that was a problemo. There is also no shade on this carseat, which means we are going to have to do something creative with the windows so sun is not beating onto his face all the time. But he does like it because it's higher and he sits up more so he can actually see out the windows. Which, for him, is fascinating. Sometimes when we're in the car he's just back there motorboating away, or having some foreign conversation with himself, or whoever. It's very cute.
This new carseat also means he gets to sit in his stroller like a big boy now, too! Maybe next week he'll be wearing big boy underwear.

I think the next step is a high chair. I can just picture the drama.
